Why we chose Ikpeazu as our gov candidate — Abia PDP

Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, said members and leaders of the party unanimously chose Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, to be the next governor of the state, to avoid the mistake of transfering power to those who could wreck the ship of the state. Continue..

State Chairman of the party, Senator Emma Nwaka; Chairman of the National Broadcasting Commission, Professor, Herbert Orji and President, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Mr. Chidi Ajaegbu, disclosed this , while speaking at the PDP Abia State 2015 Campaign Organisation Fund Raising Dinner for Ikpeazu, in Lagos.
Nwaka who noted that Dr. Ikpeazu was not a stooge said: “Most time when a leader is leaving an office and he supports a particular person, the general impression is that he would go for a fool, but we have not done that. Abia PDP went for a well bred and educated man. A man who in every sense of honesty merits the office he wants to occupy. I have known Ikpeazu for over 14 years. Our roads have crossed severally. One thing I can assure is that he is a humble man. You don’t give power to rascals because they won’t know their limit.
“We tried it before but discovered that the rascals wrecked the ship of state. That is why this time, we were very careful to choose someone that won’t repeat history during our rancour-free primary election.
“I must say that the Abia PDP is one chapter of our great party that had a very peaceful primary. Only God knows when the top seat in Abia State would have gotten to the South senatorial district. But the party sat, looked at events and said this is the time to give our brothers from the South a sense of belonging.”
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate, Ikpeazu, who tagged his programme for Abia State as ‘Abia Growth and Transformation Agenda,’ said he had resolved to make the state a number one destination in terms of quality of life, productivity, sanctity of life and safety of property.
