Oshiomhole killed industries in Edo, plans to sack 9,000 teachers – Orbih

Edo State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the state governor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, of carrying out what it described as “as total killing of industries in the state.”
It also accused the state government of planning to sack over 9,000 teachers on its pay roll after the general elections due to paucity of funds, adding that 50 teaching staff of Institute of Continuing Education, ICE, Benin, were casual workers and have not been paid for 25 months contrary to the governor’s promise that there would be no place for casuals in his government. Chief Dan Orbih, state chairman of the party, made the allegations during the party’s campaign rallies at Irrua, Ewohimi and Ehor, in Esan Central, Esan South-East and Uhunmwode Local Government Areas respectively.
The party said that the governor, since he assumed office, has been talking of creating jobs while he was systematically killing the industries he met on assumption of office.
“What we now have is a government that destroys property, a government that does not care about the youths. Oshiomhole has killed every company he met as a governor. Today, Crystal Malt and Beer is dead. Edo Courier no longer exists. He handed Edo Line to a competitor in the transport business. What is the sense in that? How will he create jobs when he’s killing industries?”
However, reacting to the allegation that the state government planned to sack teachers, state APC Publicity Secretary, Godwin Erhahon, said: “Our people already know that PDP believes in propaganda. They should remove the moles in their eyes before looking at other peoples’ own.
“Theirs was a government that could not pay salaries of its civil servants in spite of the huge resources at their disposal. They should handle their own problems and leave the governor alone. The governor has no plan to sack teachers, instead he is planning to recruit more.”
