Osun PDP sacks Odeyemi as party’s spokesperson

The State Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State  has sacked Mr. Diran Odeyemi as it’s director of publicity.
This was contained in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Monday by the Secretary of the party, Mr. Bola Ajao. Continue..
The sacking is a fallout of the crisis rocking the party over allegation of financial recklessness leveled against the chairman of the party, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, by the embattled spokesperson.
The secretary said that the SWC arrived at this decision at its meeting held on Monday. He added that the SWC also passed vote of no confidence on the chairman.
The statement read, “Mr. Diran Odeyemi has shown himself as an uncontrollable irritant, it is important that the party  excuses him to allow him engage in his cash-and-carry media management.
“Henceforth,  Odeyemi should desist from representing or writing for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
“The party’s chairman, Alhaji Gani OlaOluwa, has an impeccable record of public service and cannot change his open door policy overnight.
“The working committee observed that as an Executive Assistant to a governor, as a local government chairman and as the Party Chairman, Olaoluwa  has distinguished himself as a trustworthy individual.”
But Odeyemi who described the purported sacking as a joke said Olaoluwa was ignorant in management of party affairs because of his background as a former driver.
Odeyemi said, “That he sacked me as the Director of Media and Strategy of Osun PDP is a display of his ignorance in party management and exhibition of intellectual deficiency. It is voluntary position assigned to me with no pay. I remain the Director of media.
“Olaoluwa inherited a united PDP but sacked two former governors in the party and thousands of members including his former deputy and the secretary of the party. I remain a loyal member of PDP and can never be intimidated or chased out.
“Asking for the financial record of the party with over N700 million that has passed through his hand is alegitimate request that does not require name calling or blackmail. It is simple request from we concerned members of the party.
“In conclusion, his response shows the disaster in having a former NURTW member as the chairman of a vibrant political party in Osun State. We will not leave the party in the hands of a tout but will remain inside to salvage it. Our demands are the financial records of the party, no more no less,” he added.
