He said while the government was preparing for the worse and hoping for the best in containing the spread of the virus, Lagosians should embrace clean habits.
He said, “We are still reminding the people that contact with the virus is not a death sentence, and increased personal hygiene such as washing of hands regularly with soap and water, is essential.
“The Ebola virus attack in Nigeria is the first time such incident will be occurring in an urban centre. The whole world is watching us on how we will deal with it, which may become a defining experience for the global community.”
On the announced N200m provided by the Federal Government to the state to fight the Ebola scourge, the governor said the state had yet to receive the fund, noting that there could be paperwork to be done before the eventual release.
Fashola also said at the forum that the government was preparing to bring government closer to residents by upgrading its e-governance platform.
“You can see that we now have a platform for vehicle licensing and number plate registration; we also have a platform for tax card issuance, a platform for Certificate of Occupancy and the GIS platform.
“We are now integrating that platform to make it easier for residents and citizens to enter and deal with us from a one-stop centre on the internet via applications and all that, so that citizens do not have to move from one place to the other, one application to the other. That is a commitment that we have made, that we have to ramp up”, he added.
