Redknapp, who had worked with Aiyegbeni while Portsmouth when he signed him from Israeli club,
He confirmed that he would be looking to bring in up to three new players on loan in the upcoming transfer window, but conceded that it would be difficult to add the quality required to keep the club in the top flight.
He said, “We need another two or three players actually – on loan – but who’s going to loan you a good player at this time of year?
“All the teams in the bottom half, they won’t, and all the teams in the top half – they’re in Europe or trying to get into Europe – they’re not going to loan you top players so it’s difficult.
“We bought some players at the end of the summer but we lost Remy on the deadline, and that really cost us because he’d have had eight or 10 goals by now.”
