Customs intercepts goods worth N70.4m

The Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘A’ Ikeja, of Nigerian Customs Service, has wreaked havoc on smugglers with the invasion and evacuation of 19 trucks laden with 10,252 bags of 50kg parboiled rice and 554 jerry cans of 25 litres of groundnut oil with Duty Paid Value of N70,377, 500.The Controller of the zone, Deputy Comptroller Usman Turaki, who affirmed that the recent operational exploits of the unit is based on the unit’s renewed vigour and determination to eradicate smuggling, said it will continue to protect the investments of organizations and individuals, who have invested heavily in rice farming and production.Turaki also said his men and officers will continue to reciprocate the logistics and capacity building given by the Comptroller-General, Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde, by ensuring re-dedication to duty.
