According to reports, he was being hounded by officials of India Narcotics Control Bureau when he ran from his apartment for the fear of being taken into custody and instead jumped out of the third floor window of the high rise and ended up with multiple injuries which led to his death few hours later.
A statement by Saifan Mujavar of the Sangvi Police station stated that he died few hours after he was discharged from the hospital on the same day.
Mujavar said, “He tried to flee when asked about his involvement in drug peddling and jumped out of the window. He suffered injuries in the legs and other parts of the body and was immediately rushed to the Aundh District Hospital. We left with him to Mumbai, but he complained that he was not feeling well. He, however, died after we took him back to the hospital.”
However, the Nigerian community in India has called for a probe into the allegations of the Indian authorities.
They have also demanded for a thorough investigation into the death of the Nigerian and have also requested for an autopsy to really ascertain the cause of Anwanbukwa’s death.
