Thugs attack Buhari’s wife’s convoy in Ilorin

The convoy of Aishat Buhari, wife of Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was on Monday attacked by suspected political thugs in Ilorin, Kwara State .

Kidnapped US Missionary worker regains freedom

The American Missionary worker, Rev. Phyllis Sortor, who was kidnapped in the Hope Academy Compound in Kogi state on Monday February 23rd has regained her freedom. According to the Kogi state Police Commissioner, no ransom was paid for her freedom.

Meet the honest airport cleaner who earns N7,500, found $27,000 (N5.4m) and returned it


Pictured above is a very honest woman, Josephine Agwu, who works as a cleaner at the Murtala International Airport in Lagos where while cleaning one of the toilets at the airport on January 23rd, found a bag containing $27,000 which is 5.4 million in Naira equivalent. Josephine took the bag to the security post at the airport for an announcement to be made for the owner to come forward & collect it, which was done.
The woman earns just N7,800 as her monthly salary for a 12-hours a day job. Josephine, who is from Enugu state spoke to Vanguard about why she took the decision to return the money. Continue ...

Kano Pliiars players injured after robbers attack their bus


Five Kano Pillars players were seriously injured today March 5th after their vehicle was attacked by armed robbers along Abaji-Lokoja road around 1pm this afternoon. The armed robbers opened fire on the bus injuring some of the players. The injured players are; Ubong Ekpai, Gambo Muhammed, Eneji Otekpa, Adamu Murtala, and Reuben Ogbonnaya. Above is an injured Gambo Muhammed.

The players were on their way to Owerri to play with the Heartland of Owerri for the Nigeria Premier League opener, when the incident occurred. The players are currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja. A photo of their bullet riddled bus after the cut...

My deputy should have resigned for dumping PDP -Aliyu

Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, on Thursday said he expected his embattled deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Ibeto, to resign immediately he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

I’ll resign if NFF employs Keshi – Bassey

As Nigerians await the verdict of the Nigeria Football Federation on whether to give a fresh contract to Stephen Keshi or not, a member of the NFF Technical and Development Committee, Paul Bassey has vowed to resign if Keshi gets the nod to lead the Super Eagles again.

Ghana Presidential Jet catches fire


Ghana's presidential jet, a Falcon 900, caught fire as it attempted to take off at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, the Ghanaian capital today March 3rd. According to a statement by Ghana Armed Forces, the fire was as a result of 'friction between the wheels & the runway surface.'

A spokesman man said the craft was on its way to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on a mission when the incident happened. The statement added that the crew experienced slight operational problems with the computer system as the jet taxied on the runway preparing to take off. As a result, the aircraft returned to the Air Force Base in Accra to reset the computers. But during the 2nd attempt to take-off, the “aircraft lost two main left wheels.”. The passengers were safely evacuated and no life was lost.
