Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State on Wednesday inaugurated the first phase of a digitalised electronic library and resource management system at the new Imo Library Complex, Owerri.
Okorocha said at the event that the 100-seater building would promote qualitative education and research development. Continue..
He said that the state government embarked on the project in recognition of the importance of e-learning to education and research development.
The governor said that the electronic library would be replicated in all the institutions of learning in the state.
Okorocha advised the people Imo State to avail themselves of the library facilities, and charged the library workers to dutifully attend to users.
Earlier, the Chief Operations Officer of the Centre Point Network Ltd., Mr George Opara, who handled the project, said that the company developed the design after a thorough feasibility study.
He said that the second and final phase of the library project would begin without delay.
Opara expressed gratitude to the governor for giving the company an opportunity to contribute to the education advancement of the state.
The Director, Imo Library Board, Mrs Ngozi Amadi, thanked the governor for relocating the library to a moreconducive environment.
She also commended Okorocha for implementing the electronic library project.
Amadi pledged that the library workers would remain diligent.
