Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche has extended his contract with Villarreal CF by two years till 2017.
Uche, who joined the Yellow Submarines in 2011 from another Spanish side Real Zaragoza, expressed delight on twitter over the new deal that will see him stay at Estadio El Madrigal for at least two more years. Continue..
“I feel very happy for my renewal with @VillarrealCF until 2017! I will do my best to help the team!” Uche wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
The Nigerian international later tweeted, “Proud to defend this jersey until 2017! Thanks to @VillarrealCF club, fans, teammates and staff! God bless you all!”
Villarreal via their twitter handle also expressed delight over the new contract, and described Uche as an outstanding player, saying they were happy to have him for another two years.
“We’re very happy too, Ike! So good to have such a great player and outstanding person aboard for another 2 years,” the club tweeted on Thursday.
30 year-old Uche has spent most of his professional football career in Spain. He has played for Getafe CF between 2007 and 2008 and moved to Real Zaragoza in 2009 before he was Villarreal CF bought during the 2011 summer transfer window.
Uche scored 14 La Liga goals last season and has scored four so far this season for the Spanish side.
