Pastor William Kumuyi-led Deeper Life Bible Church has advised Nigerians not to vote for politicians in 2015 based on religious sentiments, saying religious considerations in politics have failed the nation.
It also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission against rigging and subversion of the people’s will. Continue..
The Ekiti State Overseer of the Church, Pastor Jacob Asubiojo, gave the advice in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday during a press conference on the three-day crusade in the state by Kumuyi, who is the church’s General Superintendent.
Asubiojo said the programme, tagged, “Extraordinary encounter with God of miracles,” was primarily organised for Nigerians to seek God’s face to overcome the challenges facing the country.
Reeling out the virtues of a leader the voters must watch out for, he said Nigerians must look out for a God-fearing leader with genuine interest of the people at heart.
He said, “Nigeria has so many religions but these have not met the needs of the people.
“But with this programme, many Nigerians would have their lives changed and transformed for better, because for a society to produce good leaders that can transform a whole nation, such person must first be transformed.
“What we believe in is prayer as weapons that can transform the lives of the people and not religion that had failed us as a nation. Our people must not continue in wretchedness and backwardness. Enough of satanic victimisation and oppression.”
The church predicted that peace would soon reign in the country, urging the citizens to embrace prayers as the most veritable weapon of warfare.
The cleric advised INEC to be fair and ensure openness and transparency during the 2015 polls. He asked the politicians to also obey the rules of the game.
“They must not heat up the polity over election if truly they are desirous of serving the people,” he said.
