So sad: P-Square loses their dad

Two years after losing their mum, the Okoye boys have lost their father. Mr Okoye died today November 24th. A source close to the family told LIB exclusively that the late Mr. Okoye recently had a successful knee surgery and was about going for physiotherapy when he just fell. So sad. May his soul rest in peace...Amen.

Jonathan congratulates Awolowo’s widow at 99

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday congratulated Chief Hannah Awolowo as she clocks 99.
Mrs. Awolowo, the widow of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, will be 99 years old on Tuesday.
Jonathan’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.

Police find 1,700 voter cards inside bush

The Lagos State Police Command has recovered no fewer than 1,700 Voter Cards believed to have been hidden by unknown persons inside a bush in the Seme, Badagry area of Lagos.
The VCs, which were concealed in a swampy forest in the area, were recovered by policemen attached to the Area K Command, Morogbo.
Our correspondent gathered that the officers, who were on patrol, stumbled on the hidden election materials on Sunday, November 16.
According to the police, the recovered VCs, which had been handed over to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Lagos State office, are suspected to have been stolen from an INEC worker in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area. Continue..

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to step down

President Barack Obama announced Monday that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will step down from his position as soon as the Senate confirms a successor.
Hagel, who has served as Defense secretary since February 2013, was forced out by President Barack Obama, CNN confirmed from several sources.
During his remarks from the White House, however, Obama praised Hagel as an "exemplary" Defense secretary, calling him critical to a number of national security accomplishments during his tenure, and characterized Hagel's resignation as his own choice.
"If there's one thing I know about Chuck it is that he does not make this or any decision lightly," Obama said from the State Dining Room. "This decision does not come easily to him." Continue..

Atiku donates N8.5m to APC in Sokoto

Former Vice President and an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku 
Abubakar, on Monday donated N 8.5 million to the party in Sokoto State.Abubakar made the donation during his visit to the state as part of a nationwide campaign to woo the delegates to the party’s forthcoming presidential primaries.
Abubakar said that N5 million was given to the party to facilitate its activities; N1 million for the party’s elders while N2.5 million was for the 50 delegates from the state.

Court jails 25 Abuja okada riders, 492 prostitutes arrested

The Special Task Team on the City Cleaning and Management inaugurated by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, has secured the conviction and sentencing of 25 Okada riders without an option of fines.
They were convicted by the mobile courts for violating environmental laws.
The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, who said this on Monday in Abuja, explained that the Task Team to date had prosecuted 41 offenders at the mobile courts.
According to him, four persons were discharged while the cases involving other offenders are ongoing.
The minister said the team had arrested 492 commercial sex workers and 128 miscreants as well as 17mentally ill persons.
On non-usage of pedestrian bridges and destruction of barricades by residents, the minister warned that anyone found crossing the highways would face the wrath of the law.
Mohammed directed the security agencies, particularly the Police and the Directorate of Road Traffic Services, popularly known as VIO, to deploy personnel in some critical points to enforce compliance with the usage of the pedestrian bridges in Area 1, 3, Garki, Kubwa, Lugbe and Dei-Dei.
Meanwhile, the Task Team, headed by the FCT Police Commissioner, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, has called for the review of the fines and penalties in the Abuja Environmental Protection Board laws.

So Sad: Popular radio host Charles Bruce died


Popular radio host, relationship coach and anchor of 'Sharing Life Issues' with Chaz B on Rhythm FM, Charles Bruce, aka Chaz B, has died. He died this morning November 22nd from kidney failure which he'd been battling for a while.

He was in his mid-50s and was married with kids. So sad! May his soul rest in peace...amen.

Keshi: ‘Sacking’ Me Won’t Solve Eagles Problem

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, still wants to continue in his role despite missing out on qualification for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
Keshi believes sacking him will do nothing to reverse the downward trend the Eagles are currently experiencing, insisting the problems goes beyond him.
“If a team fails, sacking the coach won’t solve the problem. The authority should look beyond the coach to find solutions to the problem,” Keshi says.
Keshi, who has been working without a contract since the expiration of his last deal after the World Cup, admits that failure to qualify for next AFCON is failure on his part. Continue...

Two robbery suspects, still cooling off at the detention centre of the Department of State Security, Bayelsa State Command, have confessed to the killing of the Administrative Secretary of Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, Chief Simeon Akpane.
The suspects, Freedom Allen, 26; Clarkson Okilo, 27, popularly known as Oyoyo, said they killed the BYSIEC ranking official because they were broke and had no jobs. Continue..
