Issa Hayatou named FIFA acting president


Former Cameroonian athlete and president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Issa Hayatou, 69, has been named FIFA acting president after the football governing body's president Sepp Blatter was suspended yesterday for 90 days following corruption allegations.

Clark dumps PDP, says Jonathan is weak

 former Federal Commissioner of Information, Chief Edwin Clark, has hailed the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari and knocked former President Goodluck Jonathan for lacking the political will to fight graft.
Clark, who said it was wrong for anyone to accuse President Buhari of fighting a selective war in his drive to return sanity into the polity, also declared that he had formally left the Peoples Democratic Party.

Apple recalls faulty iPhone 6 Plus models

The  American multinational technology company, Apple Inc, that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics and other services has recalled its recently introduced latest smart phone, iPhone 6 Plus over faulty back-mounted camera. -

ISIS: Buhari suspends Immigration boss

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday ordered the suspension of the Comptroller-General of Immigration, David Parradang with immediate effect.
The Parradang’s suspension might not be unconnected with the ongoing investigations into how a Lebanese terrorist, Ahmed Al Assir was given a Nigerian visa by the Nigerian embassy in Beruit, Lebanon.
Parradang was directed to hand over to the most senior officer, DCG, Martin Kure Abeshi, who had been ordered to take over the affairs of the service, according to a statement by the Director of Press, Ministry of Interior, Alhaji Yusuf Isiaka. Continue..

DPR seals NNPC, Forte Oil, 12 other petrol stations

The Department of Petroleum Resources on Friday stormed several filling stations at Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki and Ketu, in Lagos, shutting down 14 stations for manipulating their dispensing pumps and over-charging buyers, among other offences.
While all the affected stations had N87 per litre on their pumps as the selling price, the pumps were under-dispensing Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, with almost one litre lost by buyers for every 10 litres bought. Continue..
