Villa manager Lambert signs new deal

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has signed a contract extension until June 2018 following the club’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season. The 45-year-old Scot took charge at Villa Park in June 2012 and, despite finishing 15th in both seasons, Villa have won three out of four this term.
“I’m determined that we continue building the club to where we all want it to be,” said Lambert.
“We can look to the future with real optimism.” Despite a difficult campaign last season, Lambert told BBC Sport in May that he would remain as Villa manager at least until the club is sold. Continue..

The Scot has since strengthened his squad with a number of signings including midfielder Tom Cleverley on loan from Manchester United,
Colombia World Cup midfielder Carlos Sanchez, ex-England midfielder Joe Cole and former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos.
Lambert also appointed former Manchester United and Republic of Ireland midfielder Roy Keane as his assistant in the summer.
Villa are second in the table and are one of three clubs unbeaten in the top-flight after four games along with leaders Chelsea and Arsenal, who visit Villa Park on Saturday.
