Ahmed Musa’s lone goal on Sunday was the decider when CSKA Moscow beat city rivals, Locomotiv Moscow, 1-0 at home in the Russian Premier League. Musa scored the goal in the 33rd minute after one of his trademark runs.
The win ensures that CSKA Moscow are second in the log with 18 points from eight matches. Zenit St. Petersburg top the table with 24 points from the same number of matches.
Nnamdi Oduamadi was also on target for his Serie B side, Crotone, on Saturday in their 2-0 home win over Bologna. The Eagles midfielder came on in the 70th minute to score his club’s second goal 12 minutes later after Steve Beleck had put the hosts ahead in the 46th minute. In the Spanish La Liga, Ramon Azeez was an unused substitute as Almeria defeated Real Sociedad 2-1 on Sunday. Azeez has made only one appearance for Almeria this season.
Meanwhile, Nigeria captain, Vincent Enyeama, was in goal for Lille on Sunday as they played a goalless draw against Montpellier at home in the French Ligue 1. The Eagles keeper ensured they shared the spoils as he saved efforts from Montpellier’s Kevin Berigaud. The draw brought Lille to third in the table with 11 points from five matches.
Nigeria defender Godfrey Oboabona was an unused substitute in Caykur Rizespor’s 2-0 away loss to Mersin Idmanyurdu on Saturday. The 24-year-old has made no appearance for the club this season.
Ogenyi Onazi was also an unused substitute in Lazio’s 1-0 away loss in the Italian Serie A on Sunday. The midfielder has yet to play for the club this season. Lazio are ninth in the log with three points from two matches.
In Germany, Chinedu Obasi was an 82nd minute substitute in Schalke 04’s 2-2 draw in the Bundesliga on Saturday. He replaced Klaas Jan Huntelaar after the four goals have been scored. Obasi was absent for the two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa earlier this month.
