President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday met behind closed doors with security chiefs.
The meeting was meant to review the security situation in the country, especially in the North East.
The service chiefs and the acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, met with the President, Vice President Namadi Sambo and relevant ministers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
They did not speak with journalists after the meeting.
The meeting held on a day the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, debunked claims by Nigeria Defence Headquarters that he was killed early September in Kodunga, Borno State.
It was not however clear whether the development was discussed at the meeting
