Four members of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council have resigned their appointments to beat the Peoples Democratic Party deadline to further their political ambition in 2015.
Members of the state executive council who submitted their resignation letters include Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel; Attonery-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ekpenyong Ntekim; Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Ita Umoh Udo; and Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr. Iboro Ekanem.
The State Governor, Mr. Godswill Akpabio, who received the letters, commended the former executive members for the bold steps in tendering their resignation letters.
A statement in Uyo on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umana, thanked the former executive members for their services to the state during the periods they had served. Continue...
He attributed the proper management of the state resources to able hands of his executive members, saying that capacity was needed for the governorship seat by 2015 and that the next administration would need to build more industries, manage projects, create jobs for the youths and establish active financial management in the state.
He called on other executive members to support the political ambition of those who had just resigned.
He also called on immediate past executive members who had just resigned and were willing to contest for the governorship seat to work together to bring in the next governor.
Akpabio congratulated the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, and thanked him for his services towards the development of the state. He wished him success in his political ambition.
The governor described Ntekim as a man of integrity, a bold and courageous leader with a humble character, commending him for working alongside with him to strengthen the judiciary sector of the state.
