Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has warned Sammy Ameobi time is running out for him to prove himself at St James’ Park, Skysports reports.
Ameobi has failed to nail down a regular place in the Newcastle side despite showing flashes of his potential for his hometown club since breaking into the first team three years ago.
The 22-year-old impressed off the bench in last weekend’s draw with Hull City and Pardew has informed Ameobi he must start to deliver if he wants to stay at the club. Continue..
“Sammy is a player who has unbelievable talent and we have been waiting and waiting for him to deliver something on the football pitch,” said Pardew.
“I warned him last week that I am running out of time with him and he is running out of chances.
“Against Hull, he came on and changes the game a little bit, running up the pitch and taking players on.
“That is what we want from him but then he concedes a free-kick and we could lose the game. These are the things you have to learn even in a pressure situation like Saturday.”
Pardew is confident his top summer signings will soon begin to show the ability which earned them moves to the club.
Pardew has brought nine players to the club since the end of last season, although Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles were loaned straight back to Nottingham Forest, but those who have featured have suffered – along with the rest of their new team-mates – through a dreadful start to the season.
