Mimiko finally joins PDP

Anytime from now, the Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, will formally relinquish his membership of the Labour Party and join the Peoples Democratic Party.
Investigations by our correspondent showed that the governor told some close members of his cabinet in Akure on Friday, that he had finished consultations with the aim of joining the ruling party.
By the time he ditches the party, the PDP will be having the first second governor in the South-West in the present dispensation. Continue...
 
In October, the governor - elect of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose will also join Mimiko as the second governor to belong the ruling party in the.
The governor was said to have been under intense pressure from President Goodluck Jonathan to defect to the PDP.
One of the close aides of the governor, who spoke with our correspondent on the development on Friday night, confirmed the plan by the governor to defect to the ruling party.
He said, “It is true that the governor has been consulting and the consultation is gradually coming to an end.
“Anytime from now, we will all move to the ruling party. We have been looking at the positivity of adopting the PDP as a political party. All the entire canines are going to join him and move to the PDP.”
The LP which Mimiko belongs, has some working arrangements with the PDP and is even seen as an appendage of the ruling party.
