“Those who are being interrogated are prominent politicians belonging to a frontline political party. Troops even recovered the identity cards of some of the politicians.”
Mike Omeri, however, declined to mention names of the politicians.
Meanwhile Omeri while speaking on the efforts to rescue the abducted Chibok girls blamed the activities of some organisations and individuals in aiding insurgency in the country.
He said: “Some of these groups are augmenting and supplementing terrorists by their activities because they create diversion for security operatives from promptly responding to insurgent activities.”
“Nigerians should be assured that there is hope of finding and bringing back the girls; there is hope that the terrorists will be defeated and good progress is being made" Omeri said.Meanwhile it was reported yesterday that troops had to dig a hole in order to gain entrance into the home of a Boko Haram kingpin reportedly killed during a shootout in Kaduna on Sunday, 6 July, 2014.
Here’s what a top military source said: “We received the information two weeks before the attempted jailbreak at the headquarters of the Department of State Services in Abuja. What we got was that those who carried out the Kenyan Mall attack were up to something in Abuja.
“So when the jailbreak at the SSS occurred, we thought that could be their mission to the country. What happened on Monday last week seems to suggest that they had a hand in it because we had the information two weeks before that foiled jailbreak.
“All along, we had been suspecting the hand of international terror organisations in the fight; most of the patterns of these attacks indicated their involvement.
“This could be a confirmation; it could be an interesting confirmation which will help in our subsequent approach to the strategy of managing this issue.|”
Investigations by Punch also revealed that Al-Shabab, which has strong links with the dreaded Al-Qaeda, had moved from providing technical assistance to Boko Haram to fighting alongside insurgents in some parts of the North-East in Nigeria.
He said that “the support of Al-Shabab and Al-Qaeda for Boko Haram, until recently, was initially restricted to providing technical assistance such as training as well as arms and ammunition. I can confirm to you that several of such foreigners with strange features have been killed.”

Also, another security source disclosed that Nigerian soldiers, during their operations against Boko Haram, had killed some foreigners suspected to be members of Al-Shabab.
Look at the photo above. The woman holding an injured lady, as if trying to help her, is the dangerous woman known as White Widow. She used her fake assistance to the injured lady as cover to escape after the deadly bombing of Kenyan Mall last year.
The UK Daily Star had quoted security sources as saying that British-born Al-Shabab operative, Samantha Lewthwaite (white widow) might have had a hand in the Abuja attack.
The woman, said to be on the run in Africa with three children since January 2012, is one of the most wanted persons on Interpol’s list. She is wanted in relation with seven murders and the attack on the West Gate Shopping Mall which resulted in the death of 67 people last year. It would be recalled that Boko Haram had boasted that it is merging with al-Shabab and Al-Qaeda.
