Ike Uche extends Villarreal contract till 2017

Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche has extended his contract with Villarreal CF by two years till 2017.

Uche, who joined the Yellow Submarines in 2011 from another Spanish side Real Zaragoza, expressed delight on twitter over the new deal that will see him stay at Estadio El Madrigal for at least two more years. Continue..

One of Sierra Leone’s most senior physicians has died from Ebola, the 11th doctor in the country to succumb to the disease, a health official said.

Chinese villagers sign petition to banish HIV-positive boy

Over 200 Chinese villagers in the southwestern province of Sichuan have signed a petition to banish a HIV-positive eight-year-old boy, state media reported.

A photo shows the boy, Kunkun, watching villagers unanimously vote for his removal in a meeting held in early December. Even his own grandfather, has added his own name to the petition.

"Kunkun is diagnosed with AIDS, causing great fear among the villagers and village children. In order to ensure the safety of villagers and children, we demand that authorities quarantine Kunkun for treatment," the petition reads. Continue...

Army sentences 54 soldiers to death for mutiny

The Nigerian Army has sentenced 54 soldiers to death by firing squad for the offences of mutiny and conspiracy to commit mutiny.

A General Court Martial set up by the Army authorities had put 59 soldiers on trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit mutiny and mutiny on October 16, 2014.
