Nigerians in UK get new chairman

Mr Babatunde Loye, an insurance expert on has emerged as the chairman of the Central Association of Nigerians in the UK (CANUK).

Loye, 44,   was the immediate past Assistant Social Secretary of the association.

In the second round of voting held at the Nigerian High Commission into the executive of the association, he polled 46 votes to defeat his main rival Mr Boma Douglas who got 44 votes.

The two candidates previously had tied at 39 votes while the third candidate Mrs Ronke Udofia got 16 votes. Continue..

Liverpool moved to within four points of the top four as Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen's goals condemned Newcastle to a fifth straight defeat.

Car bomb hits Moroccan embassy in Libya

A bomb exploded near the Moroccan embassy in Libya’s Tripoli late Sunday, causing significant damage to the compound, security sources said on Monday.

The bomb was believed to be planted in a car parked in front of the embassy, and the blast severely damaged the building, an officer for Tripoli’s security directorate said.

Award winning pharmacist allegedly commits suicide in Lagos

A married church leader and award winning pharmacist, Paul Olafare pictured above, allegedly committed suicide yesterday April 12th at his home in Lagos. He was found dead by his wife. According to multiple sources, Paul, a father of two, had been under a lot of pressure following a huge unpaid loan he collected from some people to set up his own pharmacy. We’ll rescue Chibok girls if they are alive —Buhari

The President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has said he does not know if the kidnapped Chibok girls can be rescued because their whereabouts is still unknown.

He, however, promised that his government would rescue them if they were still alive.

Buhari said this in a statement to mark the first year anniversary of the kidnap of 276 schoolgirls from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State by the extremist Islamic sect, Boko Haram on April 14, last year. Continue...

Thugs attack Buhari’s wife’s convoy in Ilorin

The convoy of Aishat Buhari, wife of Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, was on Monday attacked by suspected political thugs in Ilorin, Kwara State .
