PDP governors plot against Ribadu
Some governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have begun moves to stop a former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, from emerging as the party’s governorship candidate in Adamawa State.
The governors, who were part of a meeting in the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Monday night, believed that it would be dangerous to allow Ribadu to get near the Presidency and the PDP. Continue..

Fallen cable kills woman, sister in Lagos
A high-tension cable fell on a house and electrocuted a woman and her younger sister on Tuesday morning at Olumokun Street, in the Amukoko area of Lagos.
Report from PUNCH Metro learnt that the cable fell on the residence at about 3am, and subsequently sparked fire, which made many of its occupants to flee for safety.

SSS arrests Maigari, Green
Operatives of the State Security Service on Tuesday in Abuja, arrested the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari, and halted the federation’s scheduled meeting.
Also arrested was the NFF Secretary-General, Musa Amadu, and a board member, Chris Green.

Indications emerged on Tuesday that the Founder and President of the Gospel Apostolic Church, Pa Samuel Sadela, has passed on.
He was aged 114.
Although a senior pastor in the church reportedly claimed that the man described as one of Nigeria’s oldest pastors could still be receiving treatment in a hospital, he was said to have died in the premises of the church in Lagos. Continue..

LATEST: Enugu Assembly impeaches dep gov
Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly on Tuesday impeached the deputy governor of the state, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi.
Onyebuchi’s impeachment followed his indictment by a seven-man panel of inquiry, which investigated allegations levelled against him by members of the Enugu State House of Assembly.
The panel, in its report, held that Onyebuchi was guilty of the allegations brought against him.
“The allegations of gross misconduct levelled against the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, by the Enugu State House of Assembly have been proved,” the panel, headed by Mr. Franklin Oraekeyi, stated in the report. Continue...
Keshi agrees to resume work for AFCON qualifiers
The National Sports Commission on Tuesday confirmed that Super Eagles’ coach Stephen Keshi has agreed to resume work preparatory to Nigeria’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
A statement in Abuja by Patrick Omorodion, the Special Adviser on Media to the NSC Chairman, Tammy Danagogo, said Keshi’s decision was based on Danagogo’s intervention.
It said the intervention by Danagogo, who is also the Sports Minister, followed the prolonged negotiation between Keshi and the Nigeria Football Federation.
